Aristo have been making high quality drawing instruments since 1862. Aristo continue to manufacture in Austria and have become known throughout Europe as a leading supplier of classic geometry and technical drawing products to both the professional and education markets.

The History

1862
Dennert & Pape is founded

Dennert & Pape is founded in Hamburg as a workshop for geodetic and mathmatical instruments. (Theodolites, levels, planimeters and much more).

1872
Boxwood

The first slide rulers are made of boxwood.

1888
Celluloid Veneer

Start of production off slide rulers with celluloid veneer.

1902
The Rietz System

Max Rietz (1872-1956) proposed the scale system for slide rulers be named after him. The "Rietz System" becomes the universal tool for engineers. 

1924
DUPA Trademark

The DUPA trademark is introduced for all Dennert & Pape products.

1936
Astralon

Slide rules and drawing instruments are primarily made from the newly developed plastic ASTRALON, which was the first to be marketed on the world market. The ARISTO trademark was introduced in the same year.

1943
Austria

The construction of a production facility in Austria begins.

1949
ARISTO-Studio

The slide ruler 'ARISTO-Studio' is launched and celebrates success around the world.

1954
ARISTO-Aviat & ARISTO-Aviat G

The flight navigation computers ARISTO-Aviat and ARISTO-Aviat G replace "System Knemeyer" DR3" and DR4".

1959
Coordinatograph

The first ARISTO coordinatograph controlled by punched tape goes into production. 

1961
The Company is Brought Back

After lengthy negotiations with the Austrian Ministry of Finance, the company is bought back by the previous owner family.

1964
Geodreieck ®

The classic Geodreieck ® is developed and registered as an internationally registered and protected trademark. Millions have now been manufactured and have become the standard drawing tool in schools and training in many countries.

1972
Aristo M27

The first pocket calculator mass-produced in germany under the name Aristo M27 becomes a great success. He only masters the four basic types of arithmetic. 

1979
ARISTO-Hamburg

Aristo-Hamburg was sold to the then competitor Rotring, also based in Hamburg. The slide rule production is discontinued and immediately afterwards the entire pocket calculator program is removed from the range.

2003
Worldwide Trademark Rights

In the course of a management buy-out, leading employees of ARISTO-Wörgl acquire the worldwide trademark rights for the manual ARISTO drawing devices including the production site. The GEO tec sign and plastic technology GmbH is founded and starts with approx. 150 ARISTO products.

2013
500 Products in 50 Countries

ARISTO celebrates its 10th anniversary under the new roof. The ARISTO range of drawing instruments now included 500 products and is active in 50 countries outside of Austria.

2014
Happy 50th Birthday!

Our world-famous Geodreieck® is 50 years old!

2016
GEOtec sign and plastics technology GmbH

As part of restructuring of the previous GEOtec sign and plastics technology GmbH, the company name is changed to GEOtec Schul- und Bürowaren GmbH

2018
Austrian Eco-label for ARISTO Geo and TZ Triangles

For us, received the Austrian eco-label means another chapter in the sucess story of the ARISTO brand and the obligation as a company to continue on the path we have taken consistently and with consideration for our environment.  

2020
A Major Fire

The company building of Geotec school and office supplies as well as GEOTEC drawing and plastics technology was badly damaged by a major fire on the night of December 8th, 2020. Most importantly, luckily, no one was hurt.

2022
The Geocover 3in1 Sets Expand

The Geocover 3in1 sets expand the ARISTO range to a total of 22 eco-label items. The makes ARISTO one of the brands with the most UMWZ entries in the area of school and office supplies and thus impressively high-quality, sustainble and regionally manufactured products.
